Q: Could you please introduce yourself briefly?

A: My name is Sarin Aladadi.  I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.  I went to Pepperdine University and majored in Philosophy and minored in Economics.  On my spare time, I am fascinated with reading. Cooking as well becomes part of my life. In China I usually cook for my friends. It always reminds me of my hometown and family. Great food carries beautiful memories. In addition,  photography is also one of my favorite things. Capturing attractive and special scenery and precious moments, which, in my opinion, adds more colors to my plain life.

Q: What brought you to China?

A: I studied Chinese in high school and fell in love with this language. I found it very intriguing and challenging.  At Pepperdine, I studied aboard in Shanghai and completely fell in love with the Chinese culture as well. When I left Shanghai, I felt a strong bond of China and I knew I’d be back.

Q: What is your favorite thing about China?

A: I love so many things about China! First and foremost, I’d have to say my students.  I loved my students dearly. But other than that, I’d have to say zongzi—this little amazing triangle is really to my stomach! Oh and also Hangzhou’s parks. I spent much time exploring Qingmu park.

Q:What is the biggest difference between Chinese and American culture? 

A:Chinese culture is naturally more communal while American culture is very individualistic.

Q:Why did you choose to be a college teacher and why it’s our college?

A:My agent placed me at China Jiliang University. I didn’t really have a preference. I choose to be a college teacher because I felt like I could inspire students to follow their dreams and extend their horizons.

Q:What are your future plans?

A:I plan to get my Master’s degree in International Environmental Policy then further my education in law.
